An abstract kaleidoscope of military shapes and celebratory color announce the tenth anniversary of the repulsion of Soviet forces from Polish soil. Although it was three years after the Russian Revolution, a certain segment of the Bolshevik contingency wanted to annex Poland. The Poles beat them off and this stand is considered to be one of the country's most heroic victories. Weill calls Gronowski ""the first professional Polish artist."" He quotes the architect Niemojewski who wrote in 1927 that ""The modern poster in Poland is the work of Tadeusz Gronowski; one need back up only ten years and remember the chaos of graphic art at the time to appreciate the value of the pioneering role Gronowski played in the area of the Polish poster."" The artist ""made several trips to France where he was influenced by post-Cubism (asymmetrical compositions, geometric deformations) and by Cassandre, who led him to the airbrush.""
