Lavies created this solemn poster in support of the Committee for Jewish Refugees which had been established in 1933 shortly after the announcement of the Jewish-boycott of Germany. First and foremost a commercial artist--designing works for General Motors, the Dutch railroads, shipping lines, Shell, Esso and others--he donated his services to this worthy cause. Lavies, a highly talented graphic designer born in The Hague, took a few years of apprenticeship in Berlin, New York, and Batavia, but eventually returned to his home town where he maintains a residence to the day.
Art Prints are printed on heavy matte finish German art paper using the finest Canon archival inks. Quality Frame with a single white matboard and Acrylic glazing.
