Four satisfied Cottereau customers - a pair on bicycles and a couple in a motocyclette - wave in passing. Not only are the twosomes handsome, each is charmingly dressed for its mode of transport: The bikers are casual - he in his straw boater, she in knickers with plaid hose and sporty little hat; the motoring couple is more politely attired. Loius Cottereau, born in Angers, was a French speed demon possessed of an extraordinary will that enabled him to win despite his short stature. The artists name is not clear; it could well be Lerckel. Credit is also given to A. Gallice who transferred the artists image onto the stones. Rare!
